Over Festival International de Jazz de Montréal (Montreal International Jazz Festival)

Van 25 juni tot en met 4 juli 2026 neemt het Festival International de Jazz de Montréal het Quartier des Spectacles volledig over. Dit festival, door het Guinness World Records uitgeroepen tot het grootste jazzfestival ter wereld, verspreidt zich over 20 podia en trekt dagelijks tot 180.000 bezoekers. Meer dan twee derde van de 350+ shows is gratis toegankelijk.

Wat maakt deze editie bijzonder?

De 46e editie staat in het teken van herdenkingen: de 100e geboortedag van Miles Davis, John Coltrane én Tony Bennett wordt gevierd, en DJ Jazzy Jeff eert het 20-jarig jubileum van J Dilla's iconische album Donuts. Het programma loopt van intieme jazzsets tot grote buitenpodia met soul, funk, hiphop en wereldmuziek. Een groot deel van de binnenstad wordt tijdens het festival afgesloten voor verkeer, waardoor de straten zelf onderdeel worden van het feest.

Praktisch & goed om te weten

  • 10 dagen lang muziek op 20 podia, indoor én outdoor
  • Meer dan 2/3 van de shows is gratis toegankelijk
  • Geen camping: het festival ligt midden in de stad, omgeven door hotels en openbaar vervoer
  • Tip: het centrum van Montréal wordt deels afgesloten tijdens het festival, reken dus op extra drukte en plan je route op voorhand
